PRP Wound Care Process

By The Blood, Inc.  is a medical service company that produces a biological product from the patient's whole blood that has concentrated growth factors, cytokines, and infection fighting properties. This new biological product is called Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and is applied to the wound using a dual syringe containing PRP and Thrombin™. Once the PRP is applied, it is considered a living tissue graft. A wet to dry dressing is applied using aseptic technique and should remain for 5-7 days.  Once the initial bandage is removed the follow-up treatment will be decided by your physician and his or her preferred wound management protocol. One PRP treatment is all that most patients need; however, the process can be repeated per physician and patient discretion.
